Water and Health
Kotuljska slatina
Rimski vrelec mineral water originates from permeable limestone and dolomite, which allow rainwater to seep into the depths and become enriched with minerals. Less permeable metamorphic rocks and tectonic fissures ensure a constant flow and exceptional water purity.
The spring was hydrologically stable, with a constant flow of 14 liters of water per minute, reaching up to 47 liters during pumping. The water was perfectly clear, odorless, with a constant temperature of 10 °C and a characteristic, slightly acidic, refreshing, and pleasant taste.
1972
In 1972, the Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zagreb conducted an expertise on the balneological properties of the water from Rimski vrelec. It was found that water from this group of natural sources is extremely rare. In the balneomedical assessment, experts recommended it for medicinal purposes.
